Working at George Fisher. Roster, camp & Reviews
Located in Queensland's North West, the George Fisher operation sits within one of the country's most established base metals districts. It is an operating site producing base metals, the group of commodities that typically includes lead, zinc, copper and associated products. Base metals mining in this part of Queensland is a mature industry, and work on these sites usually spans drilling, blasting, ore extraction, haulage and processing, alongside the maintenance and technical roles that keep operations running around the clock. The nearest town is Mount Isa, a well known mining centre that serves as a hub for the surrounding region. Mount Isa offers a reasonable level of services for a remote inland town, including shops, medical facilities, schools and an airport with regular flights, which makes it a practical base for both residential workers and those flying in from further afield. The wider North West is dry, hot and isolated, so anyone considering work here should be comfortable with the heat and the distances involved. Details such as the current operator, roster arrangements and camp facilities are not confirmed here, so it is worth checking these directly with the employer or recruiter before applying. Confirming the roster and accommodation setup early will help you gauge whether the lifestyle suits your situation.
