Working at Charters Towers. Roster, camp & Reviews
Located in the North West region of Queensland, the Charters Towers precious metals operation sits within a part of the state with a long and storied history of gold and metal mining. This is inland Queensland country, so workers can expect the warm to hot climate and the wide, open landscapes typical of the region. The area around Charters Towers has been associated with precious metals extraction for a considerable time, and the town itself carries a strong mining heritage. At present the site is under care and maintenance, meaning active production has been paused while the operation is kept in a stable and safe condition. For anyone weighing up where to apply, this is worth factoring in, as roles at a care and maintenance site tend to focus on monitoring, upkeep and preservation of assets rather than full production work. Opportunities may be more limited and different in nature to those at an operating mine. Details such as the operator, the specific mining method, camp arrangements and roster patterns have not been confirmed here, so it is worth contacting the current site management directly to understand what is on offer. If you are drawn to North West Queensland and have an interest in precious metals work, it is a location worth keeping on your radar.
