Working at McArthur River. Roster, camp & Reviews
Located in the South East of the Northern Territory, McArthur River is an operating base metals mine set well away from major population centres. Base metals work of this kind typically centres on the extraction and processing of ores such as zinc, lead and copper, which usually involves crushing, milling and concentration before the product is transported off site. Roles across a site like this can span mining operations, processing, maintenance, geology and support services, so it tends to draw a broad mix of trades and technical workers. The Territory's South East is remote country, and workers heading here should expect long distances between the mine and the nearest sizeable towns. That remoteness shapes daily life, with most people relying on site infrastructure and fly in fly out or drive in drive out arrangements to move between work and home. Conditions in this part of the NT can be hot and humid through the wet season, which is worth factoring into any decision about working in the region. If you are weighing up an application, it is worth confirming the current operator, camp facilities and roster directly with the recruiter or job listing, as these details can shift over time and are best checked before you commit.
